Shoreline Development

All development activities that occur within shoreline jurisdiction are subject to chapter 21.50 of the Spokane Valley Municipal code and chapter 90.58 of the Revised Code of Washington. Generally, shoreline jurisdiction includes lands extending 200 feet from the ordinary high water mark (OHWM); floodways and contiguous floodplain areas landward 200 feet from such floodways; critical areas within the shoreline and their associated buffer areas; and lakes. View a map depicting shoreline jurisdiction.

Applicants or parties interested in developing near shorelines are encouraged to contact the Planning Department to discuss the development proposal and learn about permits that may be required.

In addition, applicants would need to submit a Joint Aquatic Resources Permit Application (JARPA).
