Solid Waste Management Plan

As part of the change to a City-managed solid waste system and as required by Washington State law, the City of Spokane Valley has adopted its Solid Waste Management Plan (SWMP) (PDF) outlining its plans for managing solid waste within the city. The SWMP was updated in June 2021 to include a Contamination Reduction and Outreach Plan (CROP).

The SWMP is the guiding document outlining overall goals and policies for responsibly managing the city's solid waste. In addition to solid waste transfer/transport/disposal, the plan outlines promotion of recycling, composting, and other waste reduction activities.

Moderate Risk Waste Management Plan

The City has also adopted its Moderate-Risk Waste Management Plan (MRW Plan) (PDF), which addresses management of household hazardous wastes and small quantities of hazardous waste generated by businesses.
